The Process of producing Storyboards in Advertising is another collaborative one. During the process when an Advertising Agency is pitching ideas to a specific client for their product they will utilize conceptual artwork such as Storyboards and Comp Illustration. Storyboards aid in helping the client to discern visually the look and style of the campaign as well as how best visually tell the story. In most cases Storyboards and Comp Illustration are used when the campaign is producing a television spot or for print advertising. For television, first a script is developed and approved. Then given to an artist who interprets the script and illustrates each frame (or camera shot) of the commercial. From there those frames, or Storyboards, are scanned and sent to me, ready for color art.
